Synopsis
Lilah isn't sure what hurt worse: the day Ethan left her to focus on his hockey career, or the day he came back eight years later. He might think they can pick up just where they left off, but she's no longer that same girl and never wants to be again.

Ethan Kane wants his glory days back. And that includes having Lilah by his side. With her, he was magic. They were magic. All he has to do is make her see that.

Just when Lilah might finally be ready to let him in, though, she finds out their reunion has nothing to do with her and everything to do with his game. But Ethan's already lost her once, and even if it costs him his career, he'll do anything to keep from losing her again.

Having read Helena Hunting's Pucked, which like The Good Luck Charm, also revolves around a hockey-playing hero, I thought I was going to get something in the same vein: a rom-com with a kooky heroine, a charming hero, and heavy-handed somewhat gross humor. Btw, I liked Pucked, but there were times when it got a little bit too much.

Not so with The Good Luck Charm. It was the perfect blend of heart-felt moments that almost had me tearing up, funny moments, swoon-y moments, and off-the-charts chemistry between our hero and heroine. I couldn't stop reading once I started. The Good Luck Charm is sexy rom-com at its finest!

Our hero and heroine, Lilah and Ethan, were best friends turned high school sweethearts. The youngest of five kids with only a single mom, Lilah preferred spending most of her time in Ethan's house growing up. Even after Ethan broke her heart when he broke up with her after high school to pursue his pro-hockey career, she stayed really close with his parents counting them as her second family. When Ethan's dad suffered from a stroke, Ethan comes back home. From their first meeting after almost a decade, the chemistry and attraction between Lilah and Ethan haven't disappeared. But, a lot had happened in the years they were apart and Lilah isn't sure she can trust Ethan again. But, Ethan is determined to show the love of his life that they are worth a second-chance.

I loved Lilah and Ethan right from the start. I loved Lilah's relationship with Ethan's parents, how much she cared for them and how they embraced her right back. And Ethan, even though he has a complicated relationship with his dad, loved both of his parents and cared for them. I also liked Lilah's relationship with her sister, and I hope Carmen will get her own book.

Lilah and Ethan's romance was to die for. I love, love, LOVE second-chance romance and I read a lot of them, so sometimes they kind of get all jumbled in my mind. But, The Good Luck Charm was just so good, just a level above that it's going to live on my favorites shelf. Like I said, it's just a perfect blend of everything good: humor, angst, swoons and feels, steamy sexy times all wrapped in Helena Hunting's unputdownable writing style.

If you're a fan of rom-com contemporary romance, especially second-chance reunion romance, The Good Luck Charm is a must-read! Highly recommended!
