Synopsis
Sometimes lady luck shakes your hand, and sometimes she smacks your face. Sometimes she does both on the same day.

Three years ago I met the most amazing girl in the world. We were both down on our luck. Then I got that call—the one that tells you to get your buns on a plane to go meet your destiny.

But the girl was left behind. I didn’t have her phone number, and she didn’t know my real name.

While I became a professional hockey player, she became a superstar, with platinum records and legions of fans. And a slick, music producer boyfriend who treated her badly.

But fate wasn’t done with us yet. When Delilah turns up at a hockey game, I can’t resist making contact. The internet swoons when I ask her out on a date.

She might not remember me. But her jerkface ex does. He’ll do anything to keep us apart.

Good thing athletes never give up. This time I’m playing for keeps.

It's not often I dub a hero a book husband. Now, book boyfriends, I find those in every other romance novel I read, but book husband kind of heroes are more elusive because they have to have certain qualities and Silas Kelly most certainly does.

Silas have been a background character in many books, but we got to know him a little bit more in Overnight Sensation because he's roommates with the hero in that book, Jason. We learned that he's obsessed with a very popular singer-songwriter Delilah Spark and he gets a lot of good natured teasing from Jason and his other teammates. What they don't know, and we learn in Superfan, is that Silas and Delilah had a brief summer flirtation three years ago, before they both blew up in their respective careers. Fast forward three years later, and Silas had a chance to reconnect with Delilah, and the story takes off from there.

I read Overnight Sensation not very long ago and that one was very angsty, and I was expecting kind of the same in Superfan, but I was happy to find that there was little angst. It was a very... straightforward story. Silas and Delilah reconnect, and there were a couple of things that kept them apart (mainly distance since Delilah lives in LA and Silas in Brooklyn and Delilah's annoying ex), but they were both secure in their careers (even though Delilah did have a problem with her record label releasing her second album) and very adult about everything, which I appreciated. And also why I loved Silas so much--he knew what he wanted and he went for it but he was also very respectful towards Delilah and never pushed her, he was so sweet (and kinda awkward, but that added to his adorableness), and he handled things rationally and sensibly--which is why Silas Kelly is my book husband rather than merely a book boyfriend. As for Delilah, she was great too! She was going through quite a bit, trying to right some wrongs in her life and career after her break up with her ex-boyfriend and music producer. But, for a big music star, she was very down-to-earth and kind.

My favorite scenes in Superfan were definitely the ones with Silas's teammates and their significant others--they're one big family and a hilarious group. I love their banter and their good natured ribbing of each other. It was great getting an update on and getting glimpses of some of the couples from the previous books in the series. And, best of all, we got to see Nate and Rebecca's wedding!

I don't really have any issues with Superfan other than it's not my favorite in the series. I still highly enjoyed it though, and love Silas and Delilah. I love the Brooklyn Bruisers gang and spending time with them is always a treat. Love Sarina Bowen's writing and I auto-read all of her books. I'm hoping we'll get more books in the series, because I want more of the Brooklyn Bruisers gang. If you haven't read the other books prior to Superfan, you can still enjoy this book as a standalone. I do highly recommend the Brooklyn Bruisers series, though. It's a must-read for fans of sports romance!
