Synopsis
I thought he'd always be mine,
even when I was forced to say goodbye.

We were never meant to let go,
but it happened anyway.
Too bad I didn’t know someone was waiting to take my place, or I would've held on a lot tighter.

Two years later, we were exactly where we'd always planned to be.
I'd kept my promise.
He'd forgotten all about his.
Not only had he moved on, but the person he'd moved on with was my best friend, leaving me to begin college with a broken heart.

I guess this is the part where I’m supposed to tell you some other guy stepped in, repaired my shattered pieces, and made me smile again.

This isn't that kind of story.

My heart might have been broken,
but it refused to fall out of love.

WARNING: this book contains cheating.

It will be a challenge to write this review completely spoiler-free because I have many feelings and thoughts, but here we go...

I think it is best to go into Suddenly Forbidden not knowing much about it except for the the synopsis and discover for yourself how Daisy and Quinn's story unfolds. But, brace yourself to have a gamut of feels from swoons to anger to frustration to heartbreak to anger to swoons again and that satisfying feeling of a beautiful happily-ever-after in a good romance read.

Suddenly Forbidden is my fourth read by Ella Fields and she continues to wow me with every book. The range of emotions she brings to the page that truly makes you feel for her fully developed characters is special--something uniquely Ella Fields.

Unlike Ella's previous books, Suddenly Forbidden is new adult. We first meet Daisy and Quinn when they were seven and eight years old, and then when we flashback chapters of them as tweens and teens and I loved reading about them growing up and watching them mature and their love bloom. These two were soulmates, and they were beautiful together. Then, they were torn apart and it was so devastating. When they finally meet again, and Quinn was unavailable, my heart broke for Daisy. I rooted for them to get back to each other. I swooned at some of the things Quinn did, but there were times I was also angry at him for Daisy even though I understood why he made the decisions he did. Daisy was just a precious flower. She's one of those pure and innocent type of characters that you just want to protect. But, I wish she had more fire. We saw glimpses of that fire in a couple scenes, but I wanted more. More often than not she just let people pile on her (especially that one character we all love to hate) and she just curled up and cried when I wanted her to yell and scream and fight.

I did really like some of the secondary characters we got introduced to, like Daisy's roommate Pippa and Quinn's roommate Toby, who had their own developing romance and their story ended unfinished (but it was already announced that they're getting their own book so I can't wait). We also met Callum, one of Quinn's teammates, and I wanted more of him. Besides Quinn, he was my favorite male character in the book and we got to know his situation a little bit, but I want to know more. Hopefully, he'll get his own book in the future too.

As the synopsis warned, yes, there is cheating in this book--both emotional and physical cheating so if that's a hard limit for you, you might want to skip Suddenly Forbidden. But, if you're like me and you can cautiously take it as long as it's not blatant cheating with the characters do not care who they hurt for their pleasure, then I say give Suddenly Forbidden a chance. I didn't agree with some of the decisions Daisy and Quinn made, but it made sense for their situation and the other party isn't completely blameless either.

If you're an Ella Fields fan, Suddenly Forbidden is a must-read for you. Wonderfully written, emotional, and with characters you grow to care about, Suddenly Forbidden was a wonderful new adult read that will hit right in the feels. Read it!
